October 2017 Update

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

There are only three months left in this year! How is it that time has passed so quickly? Seems like yesterday we were filling out the new calendar, planning all the activities, and thinking furlough was so far away. Now, we have more days crossed off than left, more activities finished than needing to be planned, and furlough is right around the corner!

The basketball tournament was an exciting and fun outreach. We had so...

September 2017 Update

Dear Praying Friends and Family

We want to update everyone on what is going on with Hua Mak Baptist Church and our upcoming furlough.

For our first term we had two goals. First, we wanted to learn the language and adjust to the culture. As a family, we have made significant progress on this goal.

Our second goal was to be involved in a church or church plant so we could get some first-hand experience working in Thailand. The picture...

August 2017 Update

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

One of the joys of serving in Thailand is to see people grow in their relationship with the Lord. Seeing people wanting to serve outside of their comfort zone is such an encouragement to see!

This past month, Gan preached for the first time. He is a young man that I am discipling. Even though it was his first time, he did a great job! Please continue to pray for him as he grows and...

June 2017 Update - Answered Prayers!

One of our most common requests for prayer involves the salvation of our English students. We are so thankful to be able to share with you that Gan, one of our English students, was saved on May 21, 2017. She is a sweet, young lady, and has been asking questions and wanting more information for several months now. It was so thrilling to see how our little group of believers rejoiced over her getting saved! Please pray as we start...

May 2017 Update

Dear Co-laborers in Christ and Praying Friends,

April was a nice month for family! Due to the multiple holidays in April, we only taught English on Friday nights and Sunday mornings. This was a pleasant break for us, but we did miss being out there and seeing our students. May starts us back with our old English schedule.

Another change we made in April, was to offer a discipleship class after lunch on Sundays. This has been a positive change...

March 2017 Update

Dear Co-laborers in Christ and Praying Friends,

Ministry News
February was a fun month at Hua Mak Baptist Church. We had several new visitors to both English and the church. The “hot topic” for the month was, of course, love, and we had fun hearing about the different ways various cultures celebrate and show love.

One of our goals at Hua Mak Baptist Church is to lay the foundation for ministries Thai Christians can use to reach the...

February 2017 Update

Dear Praying Friends

This past month, I was listening to one of our faithful young ladies tell her story of putting her faith in Christ. I asked her how her family took it, and she told me “I didn’t tell them for two years!” After that, she had a rough relationship with them for some time. One area I have a hard time relating to with my Thai brethren, is the rejection they face when they become Christians. Americans who...

January 2017 Update

Dear Co-laborers in Christ and Praying Friends,

Thank you for praying for us this past December. We had a great Christmas Day service, with our highest attendance of over 25 people.

December was also difficult due to Rachael’s grandfather passing away. He was like a father to her, and being on the other side of the world was hard. However, it was also a time we saw God work in our hearts, especially my wife’s, as He gave an overwhelming...

Christmas Wreck Review

On Christmas we had our first real accident that involved calling our insurance agency (I was hit by a taxi once but that is another story). Being our first experience, I want to share how it went for anyone interested in knowing.

The Wreck
My wife was driving during this incident. She was turning left when a scooter tried to pass on the left hand side. The scooter hit the passenger door (remember we are on opposite sides over...

December 2016 Update

Dear Co-laborers in Christ and Praying Friends,

Merry Christmas! Here is a quick update about what is going on here in Thailand.

Ministry News

We have moved into our new church building (it is actually two rooms next to each other) and are settled in. Everything is running relatively smoothly. We have adjusted our English schedule and now teach on Thursday and Friday nights, but Bible study will continue on Wednesday nights. We are continually getting calls and messages from...

July 2016 update

Dear Praying Friends and Family

I know it sounds impossible, but the second month of Hua Mak Baptist Church was more exciting for me than the first! God is doing some awesome things already and we are excited about the future. Some of the blessings I want to share are:

  • Wednesday night discipleship/Bible study - I am teaching this in Thai and so far it is great. It is a good challenge for me to prepare a lesson plan....

May 2016 update

April showers bring May flowers-but not here in Thailand! The news says this has been the hottest April inThailand for 65 years, and we have no doubt they are correct. With much of the country being in a state of drought, the heat has seemed even more intense. Please pray for Thailand’s weather and the impact it has on its economy. A drought means no rice farming, and without the ability to plant rice, many people will suffer financially.

March/April 2016 update

1 Thessalonians 2:13 says

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.”

Everyday we hand out tracts, take opportunities to talk about Jesus, and if given the chance, we give the Gospel. Yet, we are painfully aware...
